Charlotteans are eager to make a mark in their community.
Some of your local NoDa residents have poured their energies into bringing a national event to our local market. Make a Mark Charlotte brings together student and professional designers, developers, and other talented makers to create pro-bono work for deserving causes in an energetic 12-hour marathon. It gives Makers an opportunity to create unique, meaningful work and develop a motivated and inspired community. It gives nonprofits a pipeline into talented creatives to help them develop a project that otherwise might not have come to fruition.
As Charlotte has grown at an incredible pace over the last couple of years, so have talent and opportunity. An eclectic city hungry for connection—and home to countless nonprofits and creators—deserves a platform like Make a Mark to foster community we wouldn’t otherwise find.
Historically, Charlotte has been a creative underdog , yet you can find art in every corner and structure. Collaborative programs, spaces, and developments are popping up often and everywhere, naturally connecting people from all walks of life whether professionals, dancers, musicians, artists, photographers, etc.
Charlotteans are eager to make a mark in their community, and we’re eager to facilitate this opportunity in our city.
Why Make a Mark?
Charlotte’s fast-paced growth continues to attract smart, impressive talent but presents its own unique challenges as well, including an unavoidable divide between neighborhoods and a disconnect between those who want to get involved and where to start. As the city and its residents work to figure out how to come together and support initiatives, Make a Mark will be an immediate benefit to those already making a difference.
With the support of some generous partners in the community, the second annual Charlotte Make-a-Thon is underway. We would love to see some of our fellow NoDa residents participate in this wonderful event, either through the nonprofit you’re affiliated with, as a creative Maker, or a day-of volunteer.
If you are interested in supporting Make a Mark CLT as an in-kind sponsor, we are currently looking for partnerships and donations to support our day-of event to make it the most successful it can be to benefit our local community.
Applications for Nonprofits and Makers open August 1st through August 31st. Click HERE to apply.
There will be an informational session for those who want to learn more before they submit that application or to meet others who will be part of the event. Follow us for details!
