What’s a Rush Bowl? Think healthy smoothie that you can eat with a spoon, ranging from 200 to 300-ish calories, depending on your personalization of ingredient choices. They can also whip up a traditional, drinkable smoothie. You can have them add supplements such as kale/spinach, chocolate whey, vanilla whey, soy protein, brain wave, weight trim, energy, immune, antioxidant, hangover, multivitamin, fiber, or matcha green tea to either your bowl or smoothie.
Owners Ben and Karen Wilhelm have lived in Charlotte since 2007 and have two teenage kids. They’ve owned several businesses and remain heavily invested in the community, but say nothing has been as fun and exciting as bringing Rush Bowls to Charlotte. Ben Wilhelm notes, “Charlotte is great whether you are starting your career, retiring, or raising your kids because it has something for everyone. We were excited to introduce another great food concept to Charlotte.”
Rush Bowls brings some healthy food options, a casual vibe, great tunes, and some outside tables and chairs to NoDa. There will eventually be at least three Rush Bowls locations in Charlotte.
Manager Ali Loiselle guided me through the menu of choices, and I landed on the Beach Bowl at 327 calories of joyous acai, banana, mango, and guava juice topped with organic granola. My close, second choice was the Peanut Butter & Jelly Bowl “because our peanut butter and jelly is made in-house and definitely fills you up. Frankly, all of our bowls are awesome depending on what you are in the mood for today.” It was as delicious as promised and traveled well on my commute into Uptown for work.
Oh yes, Bowzer even has a bowl option! The Bow Wow Bowl: Banana, Peanut Butter, Milk, Frozen Yogurt topped–of course–with a Milk Bone.
