Dining in an igloo in NoDa is yet another experience that you probably didn’t expect prior to 2020.
But last year (and now this one) have brought many challenges, particularly for the restaurant business. The industry has had to adapt as the COVID-19 pandemic stretches on, and The Goodyear House is no exception, getting creative to continue serving its customers.
The restaurant is now offering igloos at some of its outdoor dining tables, to give groups their own bubble and to extend the outdoor dining season.
Ready to book? Here’s what you need to know.
- To reserve an igloo, go to opentable.com, search for “igloos at Goodyear House,” and then follow the page prompts from there.
- Reservations for the igloos are taken every two hours (4 p.m., 6 p.m., and 8 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, and 12 p.m., 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m., and 8 p.m. Friday-Sunday) to give guests plenty of time to eat, and staff members time for sanitation in between groups.
- The igloos contain small space heaters, but the restaurant still recommends guests dress warmly to be comfortable in the colder temps.
- All igloo reservations require a $25 reservation fee to discourage no-shows. The restaurant then donates that fee to Goodyear Giving, its registered nonprofit that seeks to build community through intentional giving.
In addition to the igloos, the restaurant just finished another outdoor seating area, called The Greenhouse, that’s covered and heated, and holds six picnic tables.
Cheers to The Goodyear House, and all the restaurants working so hard to make the best of a bad situation!
