Hometown: Bellaire, Ohio (but I grew up and went to school in Miami, FL)
I first met Ms. NoDa fifteen years ago when I lived in Charlotte during my tour #1, pre-Peter-marital-bliss stage of life! I knew it then as an arty, redeveloping neighborhood. Maybe a bit gritty, but that made it cooler. Fast forward to 2016, my husband Peter and I bought a house on N. McDowell Street with our pink tailed wonder pup and have an ever growing list of reasons we are thrilled to have selected NoDa as home. As transplants to North Carolina from New England (Boston, MA and Hartford, CT to be specific) we knew we didn't match up with a cookie cutter suburban life, and needed walkability, good hangouts, diversity of neighbors and home styles. One crisp and beautiful Saturday we were enjoying a coffee at Smelly Cat, checking out the action at the Neighborhood Theater (Graham Nash was playing at the Neighborhood Theater that night and the tour bus was parked on 36th) and knew we'd we come home. Our neighbors come from all walks of life and truly-truly-truly love life! I can't imagine living anywhere else in the Charlotte area. Professionally, I'm a lifetime big bank marketing geek; Noda is my alter ego. As a Board member I care passionately about preserving the all the goodness we have today, embracing and sorting out the newness that's coming at us in the near and far future!
