Private Courtship, Public Union for Cafe Monte and Amelie's
Pastries and desserts find a home in popular South Park bistro
Charlotte, NC/June 13, 2009
-- Following a private courtship, Charlotte's resident French sweethearts are going public with their relationship. Cafe Monte and Amelie's today announced plans to join forces, serving customers from Monte's South Park location.
By July 1, Amelie's will take up residence in the bakery area of Cafe Monte. 'A Slice of Amelie's' will offer a limited menu of signature pastries, breads and desserts to Cafe Monte customers and Amelie's faithful on the south side of town.
"From menu items, to service philosophy and location--and even our names--the complementary nature of our businesses was hard to ignore," according to Cafe Monte owner and namesake Monte Smith. "This is a natural partnership that benefits Cafe Monte, Amelie's and those who've become such passionate patrons of both establishments."
Customers will see physical changes in the restaurant next week, as designer Brenda Ische brings the Amelie's look and feel to South Park. Ische, of Ische Interiors, is responsible for the popular decor of Amelie's on N. Davidson Street in NoDa.
Not-so-obvious changes include expanded hours at the South Park bistro, which will open weekdays at 7:00 AM and weekends at 8:00 AM. The restaurant will also extend its evening hours to cater to the after-dinner crowd. Adds Smith, "As we evolve, we'll count on customers to guide us."
"We've been calling it the marriage of Monte and Amelie, an entrepreneurial young French couple,"says Amelie's co-owner Lynn St. Laurent. "In a marriage, each entity makes the other stronger. Together we'll continue to grow and create something wonderful. And delicious."
Kelli Masulin is an Amelie's regular who lives in South Park and couldn't be happier about the news. "We're thrilled at the prospect of having Amelie's close by. Conveniently located within a great restaurant is even better."
