Bakery Gets Bigger and Better
Expansion in the works for Amelie's

Charlotte, NC/June 5, 2009 -- The city's favorite 24-hour bakery and cafe is growing. Amelie's a French Bakery is adding nearly 2,000 square feet to its location in NoDa at 28th, taking over space previously occupied by Mitchell Kearney Photography.

The move nearly doubles the size of the NoDa bakery.

According to Amelie's co-owner Lynn St. Laurent, the space will be used primarily for offices and special events."When we opened a year ago, we never expected we'd need more room. But we've been very fortunate to see our business and customer base grow. This was the right opportunity at the right time, and it keeps us in a neighborhood we love."

Interior designer Brenda Ische, of Ische Interiors, created the bakery's current comfy-eclectic atmosphere and will be responsible for extending the look and feel of Amelie's into the new space.

"The blue stripes, one-of-a-kind fixtures, quirky accents and unique artifacts are part of who we are,"St. Laurent says to reassure customers wary of change. "As they say, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. And we won't."

The bakery is already accepting reservations for events in the new space, dubbedSuite 101. Renovations are scheduled to be complete by July 1, 2009.
